SEO Strategy for Small Businesses

SEO Strategy for Small Businesses

SEO stands for search engine optimization. In plain English, it’s basically making your website as available as it can be to the leads that you want. Building an SEO reputation is a forever ongoing process, not a one-time fix. For my own website, my biggest focus is SEO because I believe it is the most efficient way to spend your marketing dollars.

SEO Monitoring & Reporting

SEO monitoring includes looking at the progress of your website and measuring by ranking and visibility. Your website ranking is where your website is positioned on the search engines ranking. The overall quality of your website and content can affect this. You want your website to be visible to those who are searching for your services. This service includes registering your website in my SEO reporting software which sends me regular reports on the status of your SEO and suggests improvements I can make. Looking at the insights of your website is a way to learn what’s working and what isn’t and adjust accordingly.

Custom SEO Strategy

SEO monitoring and reporting give us all the information we need to create a custom strategy to fit your needs. You can see below under SEO approaches that there are several ways to improve SEO. Each month based on your progress and reports we will determine the best plan of action. Options include blog posts, guest posting, local directory clean-up, backlink building, press releases, and much more. The goal is to improve whatever needs to be improved and to maintain what is already working, that way we can get your website to be successful!

Monthly SEO Maintenance

This service is simply reading the SEO reports and responding to emails from Google regarding any issues that come up and fix the errors as quickly as possible.

Keyword Research and Content Optimization

Keyword Research is strategically looking for words to focus on in your content based on the amount of times searched, relevancy to your business, and difficulty to rank. Once I gather this information, I can improve the content by using these words or phrases in titles, page descriptions, headings, and paragraphs.

On-site SEO

Little things you wouldn’t even think of like sizing images correctly and tweaking the wording to include keywords that are performing better than others are what can make a big difference.

Technical performance and ease of use are equally important when it comes to SEO. We address all of these things. Google wants your website to match with what the searcher wanted. The user cares if it is structured in a way that makes sense and each page flows well. (If users like it, google likes it!)

These are just some examples of regular on-page improvements that are addressed every month but, with SEO every little detail counts!

SEO backlinks

SEO backlinks are the links to your website. They can be on web directories, blog articles, or other websites relevant to your industry. This improves your SEO in a few ways. Firstly, Google LOVES when you have a ton of websites linking to your website! It tells them that you are a trusted authority in your industry. Additionally, people reading the articles, websites, or directories that your link appears in searched for that information so, they are very likely to need your services and might just end up a customer. Local SEO

Local SEO doesn’t apply to every business but, for most of the small local businesses I work with it is huge! If someone searches “(Your services) near me” you certainly want to show up. Some ways to ensure that you do, include keyword strategy, geo-tagging photos, impeccable directory listings, and optimizing your google my business listing.

Content Building

Sharing content regularly is how you show your potential clients that you are THE expert in your field. Adding blog posts consistently improves SEO and gives you a better chance of being found online (the more pages and topics that are on your site, the more likely you are to be found) Content marketing is the most cost-effective way to market yourself as a small business. and when you don't, you can outsource it to a copywriting agency. In addition to publishing posts on your own website, you can find websites relevant to your audience that get a lot of traffic and allow them to share your blog posts. This introduces you and your content to a new audience as well as creating more backlinks to your website.

Based on all of this information, it is easy to see that there is a lot that comes with strategizing and maintaining SEO. Having someone who is trained in SEO do all of this work for you can save you time and boost awareness of your business so you don’t have to worry.
